Fender came out with one of those a not to long ago......been discontinued. Guess it did not sell well.

The strange thing about the Fender resonator bass was that the scale length was only 27", at least that was what I alaways saw listed in the spec.s. I always wondered what they were thinking on that one.

When done right (set up correctly), A reso bass has a great sound that is very usable. I think that is the problem with a lot of imported models that go from out of the box to hanging on wall for sale.

I still love the bass but it did not work well for playing out. It's just not loud enough. I use it mostly for jamming around the house to tunes on the cd player and practicing. I think if I picked (which i don't) it would work better in a jam. I may one day get a pick up for it.

Just picked one up online for $375 shipped. WOOHOO! Floor model with a couple of small head stock dings. I'm sure you can just order one through any Michael Kelly dealer like GC.

Got it today. This is a super fun resonator bass. Nice and loud with low and fast action. Plenty of percussive effects to be played with too. It has a nice clear sound when played with a light touch and can twang and clank when ridden hard. Very fun to slap and pop. The body is nice and small, a lot smaller than and acoustic guitar but the volume hold up just fine.

Yes, I know this thread is OLD, but I just discovered these today.

Anybody know if they are still being produced? I love my Firefly and I'd really like to try out a resonator bass.

Hey, I have one of these! I saw a craigslist ad without any pictures and was so intrigued that I drove about an hour outside of Houston to check it out! I had a Rio Grande single coil installed and it sounds great!
