New Mooer preamps

here are the official results:

001. Diezel Hagen
002. Marshall JCM900
003. Koch Powertone
004. Vox AC30
005. EVH 5150
006. Fender Blues Deluxe
007. Toneking Falcon
008. Mesa Boogie mk III
009. Engl Blackmore
010. TwoRock Coral

Sadly no bass preamps in this line-up, but maybe that will follow some time later this year or next.

Question: Which of those preamps would work best with bass?
No clue if truth be told lol
BUT (< see how BIG that BUT is ???)
BUT (< and again)
I used a 5150iii as my primary bass head for a few years and got monster good tone(s) from it and so many flattering comments apres gig(s).
I still use it in a bi amp rig on occasions (along with the matching 2x12" cab) for my dirty/effected high end and I'm telling you, it sounds badass!!!!
Yeh so if I were forced to have a punt on one of these, I'd go 5150.
Peace

Well…Mooer and some other preamp makers may need to think about the price on their Vox voiced models considering Vox just released three different 1.1 lb. 50-watt lunchbox amps that have a street price of $199 each.

Well, prymaxe has them for pre-order. Not sure when they're expected but I'm very tempted to get a select few of them to try. I'll probably wait until they're actually in stock.

Which one would you get?

I pre-ordered the Mooer 005. EVH 5150 ... my plan is to "fake" a guitar in combination with the Mooer Tender Octaver (upper octave).

I was going to say the Diesel, Mesa and 5150, but I'll probably just get the first two since you've got the third covered. This way is much easier on the wallet.

I been pondering on investing in a clean head, there's a deep switch on the back which should make it more responsive in the low spectra, originally meant to get more bass out of small speakers, but might be useful for bass paired with a regular bass cab.

Think that would work out well?

Hard to say. There's a video where the reviewer (whose "style" can be a little hard to take at times) gets into how speaker choice is fairly important with this amp depending on whether you plan on using distortion in front of it. Makes sense considering Vox saw fit to also release a cab for it. And all bets are off when it comes to using guitar anything with bass. But my guitarist GF is getting one as soon as they're available so I guess I'll find out for sure once it arrives.

Thanks.

In the end though I won't be buying.

Found my own real 50W all tube bass head cheap instead.

Still would be interesting to know if the new Vox will handle basses well.

On another note I actually went from disliking the reviewer in the demo, to, after having seen more of his demos and reviews, quite liking his fairly unique hyperactive/intense way of approaching stuff.

Yeah. I was intially put off. But I warmed to him fairly quickly after viewing more of his videos and actually found him pretty amusing once I acclimated to his hyperactive qualities.

I put that caveat in there because it seems to be the way it goes with most viewers I've suggested him to. A little off putting at first. But some really good insights and no agenda on his part. They're honest reviews. And that's refreshing.

Glad you liked his vids. I certainly do.
