New MTD Kingston Saratoga!

Ok, here is a you tube clip of Dale Titus with "The Perfect bass" at Namm 2010 showing us the new Kingston Saratoga and CRB basses. They look nice for sure. Looks like they are passive.



Has anyone played the Kingston Saratoga, thoughts? Can they be fitted with Active Bart system easily??

Also, there is a You Tube clip out there from Namm 2009 where Premier Guitar is interviewing Mike about this line. I guess they were not ready for distro in 2009?? Sounds like per Dale they are set to go this year ...soon..?

Eh.. not what I was expecting. The Kingston line always looked kinda cheap and plasticy.. I would love a Saratoga, so well see what it looks like when its on the shelves, or a better review.

I'm glad Mike went passive with those. The preamp has always been the weak point of the kingston line IMO.

I wish he would change the name. I have an original Link Removed and love it.

There are the custom Saratogas and now these new Saratogas. Confuses a lot of people.

I wouldnt mind the new P bass for P bass tone instead of the same boring old Fender P basses. It would be nice if there was a bigger selection of colors instead of trans black and sunburst.

+1 to this. The MTD Kingstons with gloss finishes always looked kinda cheap to me like the older Warwick Rockbasses. Unfortunately, that includes these two new ones. That said, I'd love ot try out the Saratoga. I was watching some youtube interview with Mike Tobias where he displayed a bit of disdain for J basses so I kind of want to hear exactly how this would sound. I know that all of the USA Saratogas I heard sounded next to nothing like Js and almost entirely like their USA MTD siblings.

I agree...but with an Audere preamp swap, the bass rocks

I love my MTD. I would be interested in the P if it had a jazz bridge pickup.

Sheepdog, have you played one of the Kingston Saratoga's? Really kinda looking for a quick review? neck feel, playabilty, passive tone? Anyone get their hands on this at the Namm show?

I haven't played a new one. I'm allergic to trying new basses. It makes my wallet cry and shrivel up. Plus, I've already got my eye on other bass options...eventaully...maybe...if someone rich will adopt me

I played one of the NAMM basses. It was really quite nice, from what I remember. Specifics have been lost in my head considering how many basses I played, lol.

I put in the first ever order for those basses. One CRB and one Saratoga. From what I hear, they will not be shipping until at least March/April or later. Both of them will be available for pre-order on my website within the next day or two.

Email Mike and let him know! He is going over to Korea to finalize things before production starts. The ones at NAMM are actually prototypes.
