I do get a weird guilty feeling watching this one because they're all like only 15 or 16 but with that bass oh my my - and the background vocals and harmonies that they use it's just amazing from Northwest Canada Kelowna. If Ale' epitomizes the Spectre tone, this girl epitomizes the Dingwall tone!

Try silence for a bit...not listening to any music.
...Or a genre you do not expose yourself much - classical music of a specific period maybe? Music from cultures other than yours? - Gamelan? Gagaku? etc...
When searching for inspiration , I have also found that recording outside noises and transcribing them to music notation has been useful. It has also been fun and continues to be.( I nicked that Idea from a piece I played once - a transcription of the noise made by the audience attending a
performance of 4:33.
I am saying that because I too am often at that place of trying to find something new. Many people then suggest things that to me sound like mere derevatives from the pop funk and Jazz 'worlds' I am currently quite bored by most of such.
Silence however is always 'new' and helps me listen to myself and to discover what#s missing.

Listen to some Bad Co thru head phones and you'll hear all these wonderful bass lines few could play, that are subtle within the production mix.

Following thread for inspirations myself
An old band I've missed before, which I discovered and listened in the last couple of weeks, is Fishbone. I'd say it is a mix of all the genres minus jazz and plus reggae. Some songs are plain ska/reggae while others are surprisingly heavy. But the bass is very often good!
PS they're from LA and some songs have RHCP as guests.
Thanks for all the suggestions, over the last year or so I haven’t really been listening to much of anything outside of what I had to learn for projects I’m in. Before that it was mostly various Jazz and Blues, from classic Blue Note stuff, Big Band, Texas and Chicago Blues, etc. Now that I’m in a jam type trio I got turned on the Govt Mule, this is a great recording, I’ve been listening to on Spotify.

Per Fishbone suggestion above. Norwood Fisher is one of my favorite players, and my favorite rock music personality of all time. He's why I bought a Warwick when I shelled out for my first "good" bass guitar.

I listen to about 95% Classical, usually streamed from one of several locations. WQXR has a really cool stream called New Sounds. I highly recommend it to anyone who likes variety in their day to day listening. It blends Folk from other world sources with Experimental to Neo Classical. Mostly Western but not entirely. I like blends of a variety of music genres as this to break the normal humdrum of what is considered the standards.
