New MXR Vintage Bass Octave

As an OC-2 owner but still noobish, does anyone actually use the second octave down? I imagine on a guitar it might be different but if this is a pedal just for bass why waste time with the second octave? Should have been a second voice ala the 3Leafe Octabvre.

Historically the Boss Octaver was an effect for guitar (as practically all effects were with a few exceptions*) then bass players started using most notably Pino Paladino on Paul Young's 1984 hit 'Gonna Tear Your Playhouse Down' he had actually used that sound before with Gary Numan to compete with synth bass lines. It was a few years later before manufacturers started to cater to bass players specific needs.
*The story of the WahWah pedal makes for interesting reading if you care to induldge.
Reserving judgment until I hear it. I hope MXR keeps putting pedals in those micro enclosures though.
I didn't think MXR had a fully-OC2ish pedal before. The M288 Bass Octave Deluxe and the older M88 Bass Octave pedal don't have "Oct2" at all.
By previous I meant MXR not the OC-2. I sometimes blend some oct2 to get some more awesome glitches and stuff.
Oh, I know you meant MXR, but was just saying this can't really be a smaller version of either existing MXR octave pedal, since neither of those have an Octave-2 in them like this one does (which indicates it's a more OC-2 style than the others).
I'm finding just a touch of Oct 2 can add just a bit more depth to the typical OC-2 sound.

Particularly glad to see that Jim Dunlop's crew have realised what a noisy bit of kit the predecessor MXR BOD was - lasted all of 24 hours on my board because of that.
I do like the form factor though! Same as the COG T16 and Valeton OC-10 on that score. But it's like FOUR times the price of the Valeton OC-10, which is a great little pedal.

I have an Octaver on a blendable loop and I use OCT 1 and OCT 2 but I like the mid control on that MXR should be a nice pedal.
Oh come on! I don’t “need” another octave pedal! Depending on how different it is from the oc2 sound wise I will prbably get it. I have the 3leaf octavbre already for super low bass for my sourceaudio befpro and a sub”n”up that mainly gets used for its wild and crazy TonePrint options. They both have the good for that sweet analog octaver sound though.
