New name needed

Well sure, and it could probably function as a perfectly fine band name. I'm fairly picky about names though almost to a fault. Hell, you can see my bands name is really really simple "The Sipps". One guy here in town wanted me to play bass with his group "Mezzetin"

The wiki explains it here --> "Mezzetino, also Mezzettino, (Pron. met-zeh-TEE-no) is a character from the commedia dell'arte and is considered by Duchartre"

Personally it'd get bothersome always having to explain, spell, etc. the name. Your experience will vary

It may serve well to ask folks who have no idea what those words mean what they think upon hearing it because your average bar/venue crowd probably won't take the time to look it up. I've been in a band with a name that people didn't easily ID or spell. We kinda just became "that band with the name that needs to be written down to remember". We fixed that by doing business cards so it is a work around. It can be a bit annoying constantly explaining the difference between Faux and Foe though.

At the end of the day just pick whatever makes you happy and make it work.
Isn't the name of the oldest city on earth just a cool idea?? Once you explain it that way?

Going with a middle eastern style name may or may not be a good idea, depending on the politics of where you are. A band name fight may not be something you want to deal with.

The guitar player in my friend Eric's band had a couple bands in high school with the best names ever for a hard rock band: Sh*t Purple Twinkies and (my ultimate favorite) Dead Cats on Fire. Last band I was in stuggled forever to find a name. One day after rehearsal we're just standing around chatting, and the guitar player noticed the old sheet I covered my rig with since we played in a fairly dusty garage. He said "That sheet looks like it came from granny's attic". I thought for a second and said,"And now we have a name." It just clicked, and it seems that's how it usually goes. Don't force it or you'll come up with something dumb.

It is a cool idea. I'd just find it easier with a name like Boston instead since there's no explanation needed. I over think many things. Also, I don't know the art rock crowd, or the modern prog crowd very well anymore. You're probably more apt to make this decision than I am.

Some contenders I've been toying with that might work for you
Sonic Albedo (sonic being sound and albedo being an event of light being cast of in all directions from uneven water)
The Density Wave
Steel Blue Pulsar - Steel Pulsar (anything pulsar sounds cool)
