New (Old) Bass Day

Got this Skyline Hollowbody from the Classifieds here on TB. Sweet bass, and I think I'm gonna like it a lot. I think it's an '04 (Made in Korea). 34" scale.

Congrats, those are great basses,my favorite among many HB brands I tried over the years. Codesigned with Mike Tobias, a very comfortable body shape, hard to find in a big hb design.
And The Barts in the earlier ones like yours sound amazing, with a lot of tonal variations.

I don't know of another HB that's built this way. The maple top is glued to a "tub" of mahogany that's been carved out. It's a true hollow with no center-block.

You're gonna love it.

I have a later Korean model with the Lakland pickups... there's something very sweet about the Bartolinis. I don't really like the barts I've had in the past, but have really liked them on these basses.

I much prefer this design to the newer ones that are kinda cute but don’t have the bass response of,the original double cutaways. Congratulations on finding one of the few MT Design Lakland Hollowbodies used that’s a significant find and a real keeper.

Yours is silver, mine is gold! My HB27 is the finest bass I have ever played. So comfortable, toneful and beautiful, possibly the best ever collaboration between builders. Fantastic that they made the Skyline version so much like the US version.

The newer ones are a completely different model, with a 30” scale. Looks like a Hofner and a Mustang had a baby.
