New/old guy checking in

By way of background, I have prior music experience in wind instruments, but never really learned theory or ear training. I dabbled with guitar in college, but never made it past I-IV-V power chords for poopy pop punk. Got a cheap bass (GSR200) and have been trying to teach myself bass clef, basic music theory, and have been working my way through the hal leonard bass series. Very daunting endeavor, esp. with a wife and 2 kids running around and complaining that I make the house vibrate.

I am kind of on information overload at this point; still trying to learn the fretboard and bass clef--the former being a bit easier cause my brain keeps defaulting to treble clef. Working on basic major scales and 3 finger plucking.

No delusions of grandeur, but hoping when the plague is over I can work my way up to playing in a poopy cover band with other old guys on the weekends.
