New Pedal That Delivers Alembic Style Filters For Bassists

@moon-bass got one last week, curious what his thoughts are if he's been able to work with it for a while.
It's a very nice peice of kit. Responsive, and I think about the most flexible preamp that I've seen in a long time (and I've owned a ton).

One thing that I can really appreciate about it is that you and really cut thru the mix or blend in very nicely depending on what you cut/boost and filter type, and then of course you can blend the filters together. I haven't even begun to tap into the potential, but it's flexible and sounds great!

I really enjoy using it with an envelope filter, you can get some great resonance! Plus, it's solidly built and smaller than I would have thought!

LMK if you have any specific questions, but so far I really, really did it.

I've been really into getting a good low pass filter. Not a quacky one, but literally one that rolls off my highs after my effects. This is probably overkill for that, but maybe not?

Because I have the Alembic SF-2, I'd be very interested in putting this piece of gear in its smaller, non-rack-mount form factor through its paces. Thank you.

i feel that is a market share Alembic is missing. Putting the F2B, F1X, SF2, etc into pedal format could be a big money maker for them. it's not 1985 anymore, rackmount is out.

cool, still waiting on the F2B and F1X though, which are bigger sellers, so not sure why they went SF-2 first.

F2B and F-1X serve essentially the same function. Supposedly they sound slightly different.

While F2B has two channels, the F-1X has a lot more functionality.

Crazy rig would be an Alembic bass with Series electronics, into the DS-5 to split the pickups, each pickup split into an F-1X, set the crossover on each, and then send each of the highs to a SF-2 set to stereo and each of the lows to an SF-2 set to stereo as well, and then I’ve totally lost track of how many cables and channels I’m dealing with.

It’s important to note this one is static - there is no envelope follower changing the filter’s frequency in response to playing dynamics. So no matter how much resonance you add it won’t “quack”.

The real comparison would be to a “cocked wah” kind of sound, but of course with a lot more control and variability.

Using just as a LPF seems like using a bazooka to go mosquito hunting. Doesn’t rolling the treble off on your amp work?

I bet you would find more uses for it in short order though.

Yeah its overkill. No, rolling the treble off is not the same effect. What I'd like to do is have an actual low pass filter in pedal form, I think that would be awesome for the sound I go for sometimes. Of course if it had an LFO to move the filter, that would be gravy.

This Alembic pedal is more of a tone shaper, although I could use it for other things. It's very cool though, I'm looking forward to hearing some demos.

Mmmm, it looks like this one: Invalid Link Removed
...or like this one:

Why do they always act like they are inventing something new?
499CA$ are, well, good calculated. There are no 499CA$ in there...
$499 CA currently translate to $363 US ... considering I've been looking to someone build this for over three-four years (really, even longer), this is great build quality and actually available .. it's a good price/deal. I've owned preamps that cost a lot more that do a lot less :-)
