It's a very nice peice of kit. Responsive, and I think about the most flexible preamp that I've seen in a long time (and I've owned a ton).@moon-bass got one last week, curious what his thoughts are if he's been able to work with it for a while.
I Haven't AB'ed it with that, but I have with eh Broughton State Variable Filter and the Anderton Super Tone Control. If this gives you an idea, I'm selling the Broughton!curious if anyone has a/b the osiris philter with this new filter from audiolab Osiris Philter
Because I have the Alembic SF-2, I'd be very interested in putting this piece of gear in its smaller, non-rack-mount form factor through its paces. Thank you.

i feel that is a market share Alembic is missing. Putting the F2B, F1X, SF2, etc into pedal format could be a big money maker for them. it's not 1985 anymore, rackmount is out.

They already did a SF-2 like pedal.
Does some stuff the SF-2 doesn’t, but is only a single filter versus the two in the SF-2.

cool, still waiting on the F2B and F1X though, which are bigger sellers, so not sure why they went SF-2 first.
It’s important to note this one is static - there is no envelope follower changing the filter’s frequency in response to playing dynamics. So no matter how much resonance you add it won’t “quack”.I've been really into getting a good low pass filter. Not a quacky one, but literally one that rolls off my highs after my effects. This is probably overkill for that, but maybe not?

The real comparison would be to a “cocked wah” kind of sound, but of course with a lot more control and variability.
Using just as a LPF seems like using a bazooka to go mosquito hunting. Doesn’t rolling the treble off on your amp work?
I bet you would find more uses for it in short order though.
$499 CA currently translate to $363 US ... considering I've been looking to someone build this for over three-four years (really, even longer), this is great build quality and actually available .. it's a good price/deal. I've owned preamps that cost a lot more that do a lot lessMmmm, it looks like this one: Invalid Link Removed

Why do they always act like they are inventing something new?
499CA$ are, well, good calculated. There are no 499CA$ in there...
