New Pickguard Day

Francois at Avantguard set me up with this beautiful celloloid pickguard. To me, his pickguards mimic vintage Fender tortoiseshell with the yellows having a slightly blurred edge, giving a very realistic appearance.

Fits perfectly on my FCS Jazz. His template will also fit Fender American Vintage basses. And, great customer service.

Nice. As someone frustrated about how bad the tortoise materials are these days, those look tremendous.

I see they say they make the laminates themselves, that's super cool gotta admire that.

I find it weird there's not a market for "good" pickguard material in the aftermarket but sadly its super hard to find anything decent and not 2D flat printed repeating pattern yuck.

Same thing happened to me. I sent him an email to cancel my order, and he shipped it two days later. I don’t think he likes losing money.

It's a pity because his tort usually looks great, but it's not worth dealing with at all.

When you first contact him, he'll be nice and accommodating, but the moment you make the payment he'll disappear. You won't hear from him again, and one day, without prior notice, you'll just receive the delivery (and that'll usually be after some weeks/months of delay).

What's worse, to me, is that you don't get to choose the specific pickguard (tort pattern) that you want, even though he assures you that you'll be able to (before you've paid, that's it). He'll just send you whatever pickguard he has made, so there's no way of knowing if you'll like it beforehand.

A salesman and a gamble. Not recommended at all.

Yes...you are right...
But, I wonder if anyone has not actually been happy with the pickguard when it arrives?
