Double Bass New! Pirastro Perpetual Double Bass strings

Well, this certainly looks like there is a whole stark set coming in the future after all...:)

I don't think so, actually - I don't think that's their intent. But they also didn't seem interested in making the D, either, until everyone asked for it. :-)

Has anyone else experienced a sort of internal rattling inside their E string? It's weird and starting to really annoy me.

With most any string, that kind of sound is usually a sign of a broken internal winding. Not enough to cause the string to fail, but enough to make a rattle or buzz.

Just got in the mail, and put on the new Stark D with my 2 month old stark G and year.5 old normal EA. The stark D is very nice and reminds me exactly of the stark G when I replaced the normal one. it makes me tempted to change my E and A.

Its very nice but it makes me REALLY want them to just make a full stark set. more to come later

It's later. :) Anything to add on the Stark D?

I replaced the „Normal“ G by a Stark G also some days ago…. And I‘m impressed too…the String blends perfect to the other strings and adds some „punch“ to the G String… and the bass starts to „sing“ easier…. I like the sound really…and it prevented so far the change of the Perpetuals to a used set of Tempera Solos, which are still waiting to be checked out…;)
And yes… it made me thinking about a Stark D also…:P

I can contribute to this thread! I’ve been all about these Stark perpetuals - my favorite string! I like the full set, too, but the D&G stark with Spiro Mitt E and A is ideal if you want power + finesse. The Perp E&A match plain gut (Carlos chorda) real nicely too - a real nice blend. I’m secretly looking forward to my Oliv strings only La Scala to crap out so I can go ahead and put on a spiromitt/perpstark blend and be done with strings forever… thanks to Pirastro and Gollihur’s…
