Dude, there are threads on talkbass about way more weird/unpopular/cheap/expensive basses than the mustang that go on for far longer than 11 pages ha ha ha
I'm in the US.

I'm not sure they are, thomann is saying they will have it available in October. Maybe they found some NOS?
IMHO I think this is a great idea from Fender. I hope it lasts. I'd really like to try one and if the price was right grab one. It could be fun to gig with and at the very least put away until my grandson's big enough to handle it. What a great first bass it would be.

That page isn't working for me, not that it means anything... from the description it looks like the FSR Mustang bass that some retailers are advertising here at sub-MIM, sub-MIC prices.
That's the MIJ/CIJ one that I've been GASsing for that they discontinued. Thomann says they've got more of those coming in October, but I don't see how since Fender Japan is no more.is this it?

I hope so. I know that's not your color preference, but to me vintage white with a tort guard is beautiful.
I'd love to hear a shootout comparison between this and the Pawn Shop Mustang. I picked up one of the PS ones from Sweetwater a couple years ago and I just love it - be curious how different the sound is between the humbucker and a standard P or even the blended P/J....
Maybe I'm missing the point but it seems to me Fender took an iconic instrument and turned it into just another SS/PJ. What makes a Mustang so unique is it's take on the P pickup - like a P, but not. If Fender had wanted a modern take on the Mustang they should have made it a double P using the original pickups. That would have been both iconic and modern. Bonus for racing stripes.
Fender has never put out a SS/PJ unless you count the Squier Jaguar.

It was a very short run though.
Since these are coming out soon does anyone have any suggestions regarding cases for a Mustang Bass? I know there's the Fender case & the Rondo Music case but i've never seen a picture with a Mustang bass actually inside of one so i'm a little hesitant to pull the trigger. Also those are the only two i can find & i'd really prefer a molded case. My current CIJ Mustang Bass pretty much lives on a stand but since i'll definitely be buying the new version i'd like to have cases to put these guys in going forward.
The Rondo case works great. I had one for my vintage Mustang and it was a perfect fit. Quality for me was fine (for the price).
