New PJ Mustang at Summer NAMM

I'm just hoping the Torino Red is actually Torino Red. Not the "close" shade on the Bronco Squier.

As far as the descriptions claiming a Jazz neck pup being used on these, I'm not so concerned about that. Anderson's site says the same but also says the "fingerboard" is maple and then says the "fretboard" is rosewood in the specs section below the description section.

Dealers must just post what they are sent from FMIC, assuming proofreading on Fenders end is a given.

No big deal to me but it confuses folks.

People really shouldn't even call Jazz Bass pickups bridge and neck. There are long and short Jazz Bass pickups. Some basses use two short JB pickups. Some use two long JB pickups. Most use one long and one short. The long JB pickup size is also used for both bridge and neck in many modern 5 string basses, but some 5 string basses use one long, one short, same as 4 string. And then Fender uses an entirely different size for their 5 strings. We really should just call Jazz Bass pickups by their length. That's the only way to be certain.

But regardless, who knows if any of that's true? Maybe it was a typo. But maybe it wasn't. My good buddy has a P Bass Special from way back when. The bridge pickup on it is a short JB pickup, which is normally a neck pickup. With any J Bass pickup, you should measure it if you are going to change it out. There are some non-standard dimensions, too, like on the Schecter Raiden Deluxe 5 I had.

I have a white one arriving today! (Got one of the ones on Amazon) Tracking says those magical words "Out For Delivery" :hyper:

I'll post pics!

Oh, btw, Bass Strings Online has sets of TI Jazz Flats on sale right now; even some short scale sets... they had enough new singles to put together whole sets & selling at a discount. I have TI's on my CIJ Mustang, and I love them. So if anyone was considering TI's for their new P/J Mustangs, check Bass Strings Online! :)

Doesn't it take medium-scale strings since it's a string-through body?

Edit: Never mind, that was only the MIJ ones.

Yep! But the TI Flats are pretty long for short scale strings, too. I have them on the string through CIJ Mustang, and I also have them on my 30" SS Jazz. On the E string, some of the fat part of the string does wind around the post on the Jazz. (I have not had any problems with that at all. They are very flexible.)

I'd say the SS TI Flats are closer to medium scale than really short scale. Short scale DR's are the same way.

Well, I just couldnt help myself. The guy at Pianos N' Stuff knew me from playing around the city over the years and when I asked him how much he said $479. Of course the wheels started spinning. I tried to talk myself out of it (inside my head of course), but the sound, the colors, the weight, and the price were just too much to resist. The guy came back and said the price was actually $549 but I could have it for $479 since I was a loyal customer. Maybe a sales ploy, I dont know. No case or bag, $512 with taxes OTD.
Sorry for the crappy pics.
