I ordered one Tuesday night from geartree through Amazon. Arrived today. Unfortunately they sent a mustang guitar and not the bass.

New PJ Mustang at Summer NAMM

Man, I am loving the sound of this thing especially with both pups on. My favorite thing about the J bass was always the sound of both pu vols. and tone knob all the way up. It has a very distinct mix of "thunk" and grind. This gives you that but with more beef. Its killer.

Awesome. Glad to hear it sounds good! I wonder how it would do tuned down 1/2 step? My band plays tuned down, and I wonder about how floppy the strings would be.
Not sure about actual weight but it feels only slightly heavier than my Squier ss jag did, and that was the lightest bass I ever owned. I dont have a scale.
Move up a gauge when you tune down and you'll regain some of the tension lost by down tuning.
GAS ! drool But they're very pricey on this side of the Atlantic, 930-950€ (taxes are always included in Europe) seems to be the norm. Over $1050 for a MIM Mustang w/o case or bag...
I remember paying in the 750€ sth in 2009 (but back then the exchange rate was much better, MIM Precision were around 575€) for my CIJ Fender Mustang. I was just a fool for buying a 190€ fitting case...
The CIJ Mustang is a killer, maybe a slight balance issue (regular Fender tuners are heavy, and the headstock is big), and problems to find flatwound strings that fit.
How is the new one?
I guess the JB "neck" fits the narrow string spacing better (to those arguing about why the "neck" JB pup)

I think it sounds great. I love the 3-way switch. Love the P/J pups. And you guys, it has a satin finish on the neck. I deal with the gloss on my other Fenders, but have always preferred the satin finish on the Squier necks. This Fender has the satin finish I love.
Fit and finish is lovely. I'm glad Fender came out with these, and I hope they keep them available for a long time.

I thought that the PJ only came in blue??? I didn't know fender made other colors. I saw someone post about a white one

They have a Torino Red one that I'm wanting.
That pic looks like CAR but I've seen others that look like true Torino Red.
Ah, I hope someone else can chime in on this too. All I play are short scales. So, relative to all my other basses, I would say, no, the strings are not floppy. The P/J Mustang comes with round wound strings on it... currently, my other Fender short scales have TI Jazz Flats on them, which are pretty flexible strings... so as of right now, the P/J Mustang feels tighter than my other basses.
In general, I have never felt that the short scales I play have floppy strings, even in drop D, and I do like to dig in when I play. But I know that others have said that short scales have floppy strings, so maybe its a YMMV thing.
