New place to meet women?

Never tried online dating, so I can't speak to that. Bass playing per se never worked for me, and neither did anything else. I had a terrible time meeting women for years and years. I was perpetually trapped in the "friend zone" with every woman I was interested in for more than a decade. A friend, a woman, gave me the best advice ever. She told me to stop trying so hard and to concentrate on my own interests, my personal space, and things I cared about outside of socializing and meeting women. Best advice ever.

So for the OP, concentrate on fire-fighting and bass playing, and whatever your other hobbies and interests are. Be more self-interested, without being arrogant or elitist, and you will immediately be more interesting.

Matticus, I think you may just be a hot dude. She picked you for her rebound bounce, it prolly wasn't your personality that sealed the deal. Just a wild guess. But good for you whether I'm right or wrong.

Could be. I think she might be interested, though. I did meet her before she was single, and there any number of single good looking dudes she could have hooked up with.
Anyways, I got her number last night and Im going out with her tomorrow.

Oh, and I agree with the rest of your post. I had a similar history with women myself. Once I decided to "just do me" and not worry so much about women they started coming out of the woodworks.

I'm admittedly not hot. Don't get me wrong, I have confidence, but I'm no one's Brad Pitt or whatever.

The good news is that I've got personality in spades, and that works, a lot. I've definitely gotten girls from playing music, but you'd be surprised about how effective just buying a girl a drink and having a conversation with her is.

Protip: if you want to hit on a girl in a group of girls, buy them all a drink. It works, no one feels weird, and you score huge points.

I definitely wouldn't have my (in my opinion) very hot lady now if it wasn't for my personality. She finds me attractive, but considering her favorite celebs are Hugh Jackman and Tom Hardy, two men who I couldn't look like less, I think that being me had a lot more to do with it than that.
