New POG Nano

What was different about it. The chiro of the micro POG is mildly annoying.

Can you solo the octave up?!
Well the chirp is still there a little bit but it's greatly tamed by comparison. Having said that, after a couple days of going back and forth with them, that chirp in the Micro Pog is not without its charm. Today will be my first gig with the Pitch Fork, and I'll be honest...soloed I like the Pitch Fork better, but I'm wondering if I will like it being less chirpy in the mix better. I probably will ;) but it's still an unanswered question till about 9 pm tonight.

And yes, you can solo octave up (or down or both) by turning the blend knob all the way clockwise.

I guess I should elaborate a little ;)

To me, it doesn't sound exactly like an 8-string bass, of course, but while with the Micro Pog, I was like, "Eh, close enough for rock and roll," the Pitch Fork had me saying, "Hey, this can almost pass." Made a really good first impression, except when I busted out a pick and put a tiny little bit of overdrive on it. The octave up, which sounded fine and balanced like an 8-string bass when I used fingers, came screaming out all of a sudden. Anyone else would have turned it off, but I went with it anyway because I liked being obnoxious at that particular moment. So I drowned out our guitarist...who cares? :p So now I have to determine whether it was a knob getting knocked or just how it works when you add overdrive and a pick. I'll do that again in our show tomorrow night for sure!

Tried it with the lower octave a little, too. Darn sure tracks better than the OC-2, but still a little thin and not as synthy as the OC-2, so I doubt it's going anywhere any time soon. But I think I dig this Pitch Fork.

I'm really interested in this thread. demoed the micropog against the pitch fork in the store, and agree with the pitchfork less synthy verdict. I'd buy it tomorrow except for one thing - no dry out (a la micro-pog). I'd really like to take the effect and mod it while keeping the pure bass clean . There was another thread on TB hypothesising about modding the PF to get a clean out by splicing off the blend pot, but no conclusion. Anyone tried this?? alternative is an AB switch before plus combiner after , but that's a lot of extra pedals, space and signal path.

It looks like the Nano version is available on Amazon now (it wasnt 2 weeks ago when i looked). Its same price as the Micro model but it says new algorithm for superior tracking. I would love anyone whose tried it to vouch for it.
The smaller size would be perfect foe my board so Ive been excited about this, but some of the Nano versions of EHX stuff have been simply inferior though I hope is not true in this case since it's not cheaper in price....

What's wrong with the blend knob instead? You can still solo the effect if you want.

I've done this with a microPog and an Xotic Blender. I sweeten the +1 octave with, of all things, an EH PitchFactor. The PitchFactor does micro de-tuning very well (set at +1 octave, it doesn't do so well with polyphonic input). I set the box to double the +1 octave µPog output--one at +6 cents, and one with -6 cents pitch change. Then I blend the effect output with the dry bass signal. Crisp tone and great pitch definition. The harmonics are huge.
