I just bought this Warmoth body for a new build. It will be a natural finish with maple jazz neck, probably a black pickguard, with my Fender Custom Shop '62 pup and a Hipshot Vintage bridge. I'm leaning Tru Oil on the finish, with or without Z Poxy grain fill first.

I'm really happy with the grain on this one.

I've always wanted a natural p bass, but bought a black MIM P body a while back and had it converted into a P/J. Now I'm going back to do it right. This one will be very straightforward. I'm pretty sure I'll just do about 10 coats of Tru Oil with no other fuss. I'm going to try to do a Warmoth jazz neck; to me, that's the ideal profile for a bass neck. I just hate the fact that the truss rod adjustment is at the heel instead of the headstock, but it's a fair price to pay for such a great neck.

i'm actually doing the opposite on my jazz, i'm gunna have a p-neck on it haha. I've played on jazz necks before and my fingers get cramped, it's easier for me to play on a p-neck. I'm also doing mighty mite for the neck, i'll save a lot of money that way and the truss adjustment is at the headstock. all of mine's gunna have tung oil though because I have a lot leftover from a previous project. can't wait to see how yours turns out, good luck!

After some delay, here's the progress. After testing on scrap, I opted out of a grain fill. This is one coat of General Finishes Golden Pine gel stain, followed by 5 coats of Minwax Wipe On Poly in satin finish. The stain popped some odd, veiny figuring in the wood that looks like scratches but is not. All in all, I'm happy so far.
