New Recording Setup

With one of my bands I play a Jazz and want to accentuate the midrange growl and use a combination of YYZ pedal/Bass Comp Jr and a REDDI or PF-50T transformer out( to warm it up).
In a new project I’m starting I am going the Precision route and put together a much different setup that sounds equally good but completely different.
Still using a DI but moved to a Sansamp BDDI. Added an SM57 on center close up and a Voodoo VR1 mid cone backed off about 6”. The DI has some color but the bass tone comes thru. The 57 has some bite and a little grind (from the amp) and the ribbon makes it fat and warm.
Mixed right I am loving the sound. In two weeks will track some drums and then re-EQ to make sure I’m not stomping on anything (especially the kick).
