New Rickenbacker 4030!

I sold my 84 4003 last week and have a new 4030 arriving tomorrow. My hope is that it will be easier to play with the more compact 24 fret neck. My main bass is a short scale, Gibson EB2D which is so much easier to play than my long scale basses and found myself only playing the Gibson of late for that reason. My observation form this thread is that these new 4030's are less decorative with no binding and only dots on the fretboard, cutting costs but definitely not cutting the price!!!!!!.
