Double Bass New Rig

Just curious - have you ever run the bass direct through the Puma? Is it a viable DB amp in any way, or is it pretty much useless without the Felix or at least an buffer/HPF like the FDeck?

The Puma is by no means useless, which is why I had two before I embarked on this project. With an FDeck it is, IMO, one of the best DBamps out there. It has the Tecamp 'taste' control that is very effective in sharpening/fattening the sound that almost makes the other eq controls unnecessary. And at 500 watts it's very small and compact. A very nice amp.

Nice! I'm curious: How do you determine the level of your "FOH" Wizzy?

I think that's a great idea. You can carry a large(r) room with cranking the bass onstage and creating some serious feedback issues, no?

Yes, it makes a mic viable with a much lower risk of feedback. Most times the Wizzy is just on the front of the stage and you can hear some of the sound coming back. With a bit of experience that enables the level to be set.

Won't you get problems with phase cancellation or resonances in the low frequencies? Or is most of the low end produced by the Barefaced?

With the Felix each channel has a separate phase reverse, although the speakers are sufficiently separated for this problem not to arise. And, as you say, the Barefaced does most of the heavy lifting bass wise. The Wizzy provides mid and upper articulation, plus the MBOL component.
