Hey all,

Just entered into the world of fretless bass with a brand new Rob Allen MB-2. What an amazing bass, after a couple of notes I knew I was adding air miles to my credit card :).

Picked it up at Club Bass in Toronto, Dave was great, highly recommend purchasing there to everyone.

I've been playing my Mouse all weekend. WONDERFUL instruments... perfect fit and finish, lightweight, as close to a DB tone as you are going to get in a bass guitar.

The cool thing is, they sound wonderful unplugged for practicing alone. GREAT instruments, and Rob is wonderful to work with.

Enjoy.... yours looks particularly nice!

Of the many basses I've owed and played, can say I've haven't played a better made bass then Rob Allens. I love they've have one beautiful singular sound unlike many basses which try to nail 5-6 different tones.

Mine speaks like a wind instrument in the upper register, and is the exact opposite of the Jaco tone (which I love). Too bad my intonation is awful.

I have been playing an MB-2 similar to yours for about a year now and it's a wonderful instrument. I use it in a jazz quartet with a female vocalist and it really nails that "upright" vibe with a very light and comfortable form factor. Much easier to drag around than my old upright.

Congratulation on your new purchase. You are going to love it!

I was at Club Bass last week, and I was mentioning to Dave how I thought it insane that no one had bought one of the Rob Allens he has in stock! That bass is absolutely stunning! I agree that Dave is an excellent guy to deal with too.

Amazing tone, I am also very pleased with how easily it plays and how short the learning curve to fretless is with it.

Yeah, the deep sound is much more forgiving of your intonation than something like bass with a polyester coated fingerboard and rounds. It would have been a little less frustrating learning on a Rob Allen, but I never found fretless as difficult as most people make it out to be.

So, the important question........
When are you gonna order a Mouse 30? :p

Thinking the Mouse 30 would look like a little toy on me (I'm a big guy). I'm also pretty much exclusively a 5-string player and 30" B string is probably not ideal :)
