Hey Greg, This is Mike W. Have you had any interest in the fretless? My son Chris W. attends UNC Chapel Hill and is a music major. He likes jazz a lot and also plays the double bass which he plays in symp.band and jazz band which is what he got his scholarship for. He got to play with Steve Bailey at UNC Wilmington for 3 summers and thought about going to school there because of Steve but decided on Carolina instead. If you get any photos of his bass being made from Gard could you post them? He is anxiously waiting. Thanks Mike W.

Greg, I saw a picture of a 4 string Roscoe that had a 35 scale but the one I ordered will be a 34 scale....correct? thanks Mike W.

If you order a 4-string from Roscoe it will be 34" by default, 35" would be on request.
I ordered a fretless 4-string some months ago, I was considering 35" maybe, but I'm glad I didn't requested that.
I have big hands and long fingers, but still I prefer 34"... mainly because I am used to that scale, and I'm only interested in 4-string basses. (Most 4-stringer will be 34").
But if your son plays double bass he could prefer a 35" scale.
Not that it matters that much when switching between double bass and bass guitar.
One question though, why a lined fretless when your son is learning double bass?
I'm not trying to be elitist, but unlined is so satisfying when you get used to it.
BTW, that's a really nice thing you are doing for your son.

Yep - yours will be 34". The 35" 4-string I have in stock is a slight oddity that would appeal to someone like me (a 5-string player who decides he wants a 4 in the same scale).

I snapped a quick pic of this one while I was in the shop yesterday. The body has been shaped and several coats of finish applied. The last coat they sprayed has been sanded back a bit getting ready for the next coat, so it's got a milky appearance at the moment. That'll clear up as soon as Keith sprays the next coat. It's looking terrific!!
It must be nice for basses to just SHOW up!
