haha. Mark's point (i think) was that anytime someone posts a bass with 5+ strings, you get exactly the same remark as he (jokingly) made. Nice bass and i'm diggin' the blue, very classy.

Actually it was in reference to the thread that used to be up about Garry Goodman's Adler 12 string (now deleted)..
I made the above comment in jest and someone chastised me (dancehallclasher I think it was) that my efforts at levity were in actuality not funny.. I countered, explaining that those threads ( threads on ERBs) were the only places I could use them and that they wouldn't go over as well or be understood in threads not dealing with numerously strung ERBs..
So, to prove my theory I posted a duplicate post I had made there, here.. And just as I suspected it did not "fly" at all..
It's all a moot point now anyway since one of the mods (or possibly the initial poster) deleted the thread... But I thank you all for participating and now return you to your regularly scheduled thread already in progress...

It seems Mark has cracked under the pressure of all those years of being teased for playing ERBs. He took a buzzsaw and cut his three 8-stringers in half to make six 4-stringers and is now a 4-string devotee for life

The RV5 (Metro) sounds a little "fatter" but it has medium stainless Sadowsky strings (130T-45), Great "fingerstyle" sound. My first choice for a "blues Gig". The NYC MV5 is Ash/Maple and has a great slap sound and while still plenty fat is not as fat as the Metro it's also lighter (about a pound) and has light nickel Sadowsky strings (125T-40) for a Jazz, Gospel or R & B I'd go with this one first.
Their both great basses and I wouldn't feel out of place with either one in any electric bass situation. The metro while not as good a slapper still has a great slap tone and the NYC is still very fat. It doesn't hurt that I'm running them thru an Aggie 750. And I'm not sure how much of the difference is string related. They both have VTC too. I hope that helps.

I have been digging my RV5 and have wondered at times if I would have preferred the maple. For the southern rock thing I am doing right now, fat is good. At some point I may be for a 24 fret maple Sadowsky for the modern sound I like when doing the contemporary church thing. But I think I can live with the RV5 for the time being.
