Yes... The SR 30th Anniversary. It had the same chambering and Norstrand pickups. No piezo or fretless, but yeah, they clearly dusted off the previous CNC settings.

i have the Nordstrand Big Breaks on my EHB 1505 - lovely pickups and hum cancelling.
i just confirmed pre-order for this with my SW rep.
i'll consider the Sire as the release date gets closer.

Not a bad sounding bass at all, nor player,..... but why, oh WHY..... that hideous version of Giant Steps, without a walking line but with Hammond Cheesemaster 4000 string patches on every beat? I wept for my heroes....

if they're shipping these like the z series, then we may have to wait till August. On another thread someone mentioned that time frame for receiving the new models. I'd love to be wrong on that though.
I would love somebody to do a side-by-side comparison of these semi-acoustic BGs playing walking lines with the specific objective of sounding as much as possible like an upright. You can dig through videos (some helpful ones in this thread) and find stuff, but it seems that a lot of promo material makes the claim "hollow body gives it an upright tone" etc, but then the videos proceed to show them being played in a fairly standard fretless BG style with lots of slides etc. Nothing wrong with that of course, but for those of us who (like @MuseChaser) are looking for something to gig with when upright isn't an option it would be good to hear how close they can actually get.
I'm sure people here have seen this before, but this is the most upright tone I've heard from any BG although a lot is down to the guy's excellent playing:
Has anyone been able to try the Sire GB5 fretless yet?? I'm so curious, and tempted. Ideally, I'd love a medium scale fretless hollowbody (or chambered body), but I don't know that such a beast exists.
I wish! I'm so curious. All I know is that the initial arrival date at Sweetwater was for May, which has been pushed back monthly, and now they say October. Inquiring minds want to know!
