New spitfire PG...but which bass should it go on?

Just picked up a spitfire pg which is gorgeous! Trying to figure out which of my current basses (if either) it works better for. My wife says neither haha but figured I should asked for some TBass opinions before I shelf this for another project.
So two options for this sweet Tort guard....sonic blue over sunburst or a real yellowy yellow....pics attached

If I were going to be dropping $200 on something as purely cosmetic as a Spitfire pickguard, I'd match a bass to that pickguard rather than the other way around.

Agree with wife. I vote new bass.

Both of those basses are sweet. I'm a tort-lover; but IMO, the white guards are best on those particular basses.

I used to have a Sonic Blue Jazz with a white guard. Tried a tort on it, and quickly returned to white. I have a Vintage White P-Bass with a white guard. Wouldn't even consider changing it!

Your wife is right. Both of those basses look better with the white pg. That spitfire guard looks incredible, but it's not the right guard for those two basses.

It looks good on either one but if you keep it on the blue it makes it look like the burst bass was refinished with the blue and the same tort guard that was on the burst is being used..which is cool!!

otherwise, since we're freely splitting cosmetic hairs here, i think you need an aged white or mint to do that sonic over burst justice, IMO.

You should order another spitfire pickguard in vintage mint for the sonic blue bass.

If you had rosewood boards on those basses, I would say either one would be fine with tort.

But maple boards changes things. Neither one looks good with tort and a maple board to my eyes.

I was honestly debating that as well, before I got it I was 100% planning on showing more sunburst but then when I saw it in person it looked awesome so I hesitated. But it would be cool to see more of the yellow underneath.
I have a rosewood board that will be going on it which should fit the look I think

I like white or mint green on sonic blue and white on Olympic white that's yellowed.

They both look better as they currently are

Blue, but the fingerboard makes a difference. If it's a rosewood board, you can get away with serious tort invasions on about any color body.

Total honesty…I'm not a fan of tort. That being said, that Spitfire guard has a kind of fiery fierceness to it that kinda works for me…go fig!

Of the two choices, I'd go with the Sonic Blue body. I gotta agree with the others, that the burst peeking out complements the Spitfire nicely.
