New Squier colors/models for 2021

Being the proud owner of one of the Squire 70's Vibe P-Basses in black with the maple fretboard (and those awesome block inlays), let me tell you how impressed I am with this bass every time I play it at a gig. The neck feel is flawless (aside from the glossy finish that requires a lot of Fast Fret to keep from getting sticky). But there is not a single dead or buzzy fret to be found on that neck - man, their QC has come such a long way (they used to be awful). With a reasonable weight, great looks and that unmistakable P-Bass sound, this bass is an absolute joy to play live.

And now that I've made a few upgrades to it (Hipshot A-Style bridge with 16.5mm spacing, a Fender Custom Shop '62 P-Bass pickup and a Richter PB-VT Passive Control Unit), I've made this already excellent bass even better - and it will continue to be my go-to bass for the forseeable future. If you've been on the fence about getting one of these (because it's a Squire), don't waste another minute. Call your favorite music shop and reserve/buy one already. I'm so glad I took a chance on mine - I certainly wasn't disappointed.

The Classic Vibe series have been of pretty good quality, I recently owned a CV Mustang, I was very impressed with the quality of it, only real reason for trading it is I prefer one in different finish but they were out of stock at the time. However, from what I've tried so far, and according to the opinion of the local music store near me, the quality of Affinity basses they've been receiving lately have been inconsistent and they've had to return a number of them due to some defects (stripped screws, necks that don't seem to hold an adjustment etc. ). Almost like they're rushing production a little too quickly to make up for the demand and the factory in Asia being closed down for the period of time possibly neglecting adequate QA in the process, that was the store associate's theory. they'll get back up to snuff though.
These new models though look very interesting, in particular the Jaguar.

Just saw that there are some new Squier colors/models for 2021. These are Affinity series. The P and J basses look like the same body shape and headstock shape as the other Indonesian made models. That seems encouraging. The burgundy mist jazz bass looks nice. Might be a nice modding platform.

I have two new Affinity's from the Indonesian factory and they are amazing for 300 bucks.

They've got ceramic pickups though, not alnicos like the VMs/CVs. If they're anything like previous Affinity pickups they're likely to be the weakest link. There's nothing wrong with ceramic pickups if they're properly made of course and there's also an element of personal taste but I personally never liked the pickups in the old Affinity-basses. Very sterile, lifeless, clanky IMO. They were more or less my definition of a "cheap bass sound" but I guess they could be fine for some styles/genres.

And who knows, they may have re-designed them.

Confirmed. I called Guitar Center's support center earlier today about the Charcoal Frost Metallic Jazz basses. They told me they're due in sometime in August.

They're going to sell a ton.First time I've personally noticed this much talk about a bass on a four month preorder.I don't know what's behind it,other than being a cool little number.This'll be my first Squire and I know little about them except there's crap loads of them out there.I've become a fan of cheapo basses in my retirement.I like to upgrade them if they tickle my fancy.In this lockdown I've gotten a Harley Benton rb-414, my Epi Embassy and a KTone semi hollow number.I'm very pleased with the lot and hope the trend continues with the upcoming Jaguar.
