New Squier Vintage Modified Basses

Hi guys,
I was browsing the internet to today and i came across squier's new line of VM bases. My first thought was, I want one! But to my dissapointment, i couldn't find any on an Australian website. If anyone out there knows of a shop that has them i would love to know what it is so i can go and check them out.:hyper:

They haven't actually been released yet. A couple of online stores (World Music Supply, Sam Ash) have them on pre-order, but that's about it. Possibly next month, probably depending on where you live, you might get them later if you live outside the US. I saw a date somewhere of 9/02/10, but that may or may not be accurate.

I'm still scratching my head about the Jag becoming a Squier product. I think they look strange with a P pickup in them and without the extra control plates. I can't wait to check it out, but I have a Fender Jag that I adore... so the Squier isn't in my future. I miss my old Squier VM 70's jazz. That thing sounded awesome.

Epiphone needs a "Vintage Modified" series of basses. They should start with the EB-2. I would buy THAT in heartbeat.

I would LOVE a long scale EB-1, with an EB-3 pickup/control scheme, with the neck pup more towards the middle. Modified enuff for ya?:D

That is why I like Squier and Epi. You can mod the heck out of them and make what you want without lowering the value of an expensive instrument.

I have to say (without hijacking the thread) that Epiphone makes instruments that stand on their own, without Gibson. The Epiphone Rumblekat is a good example, as is the Epi Jack Casady. Really great instruments.

I recently heard somebody say "Epiphone is the Takamine of basses."

I have yet to play a epiphone or a gibson that has felt nice to play. the necks feel so terrible. Maybe its just the fact that I've grown up with squier/fender? Idk. I love the looks fo epiphones, but they feel so clunky and unnatural.

On topic: I will own the jag and the p-bass. guhhh i love maple necks. After those i really want to buy that Telebass and throw a darkstar in it. Those in addition to my 97 squier, maybe i could pull off a sponsorship? hahaha.

Is that bad? I love Taki acoustic guitars. The one I have is really warm sounding. The electrics in it stink, but mic'd it sounds great.

I have owned two Squiers, and both were very much better than the "reputation" Squier has for inferior or non-professional instruments. I am thinking about sticking my toe in the fretless waters in the next year. Squier is very high on my list of fretless basses. I have and will gig a Squier.
