A couple of weeks ago I almost got a P5, but now I've decided I'd rather have a PJ.
This sunburst is lovely, and I'm probably going to go for that rather than my first choice of the CAR version.

Once I get my Gotoh 201 bridge, Fralin P pickup and maybe my CV Jazz neck on it I don't think ill ever need another bass. I will of course give the stock neck a chance, but I really prefer vintage style frets. Might also put a Wizard 74 jazz pup in at some point.

Yeah, might be the larger neck making them seem smaller.

Anyway, i have a Sunburst PJ arriving tomorrow, i hope im not going to be disappointed :bassist:

I even passed up the opportunity to buy back my very much missed Lakland Duck Dunn today. After spending the past 3 years playing just my Squier's, mainly my CVP, im a confirmed believer that the cost of a bass is not an indication of how good it is.

My sunburst P5 is on the UPS truck. Should get here tomorrow.

Nice. If i love my PJ then i can see a sunburst P5 on the horizon as well.
After looking at quite a few images of the VM sunbursts it looks like the finish does vary a bit. Im hoping for something more brown/red/black (dark) rather than yellow/orange ive seen, but whatever i get will be better than the god awful Fiesta Red i have at the moment.

I just got mine a minute ago. The grain and burst actually looks quite good and straight out of the box the setup was nearly perfect.

It has absolutely no business being this good for what I paid for it. Floored.

That's good to know, and congrats. There were some earlier posts showing miss matched wood on a sunburst P5, and while it wouldn't bother me too much it did put me off going for this finish for a while.
I wonder if it's to do with the wood type as the p is a different wood to to the PJ.

One mod I always do is to put a shim under the neck heal. I like the action to be pretty even and although I don't play past the 12th fret seeing the action getting higher after that point bugs me.

Mine has been dispatched today so hopefully I'll get it tomorrow. It was either a new bass or a iPhone 5S, this was cheaper lol.
