Got mine this morning and put it through its paces. I compared this head to:
  • Warwick LWA 1000
  • Taurus Qube 450
  • Bugera Veyron
on the following 3 cabinets:
  • Bergantino CN210
  • TC Electronics K212
  • Phil Jones C4
All I can say is that I am completely blown away by this head. The range from vintage to modern is accurate! I'm not sure about the volume yet because my in-laws are here and asleep...

I love my Warwick, but I think it's going into storage...

This does look interesting. I would imagine it's plenty loud enough for most gigs. My Markbass Littlemark III, Genz Benz Streamliner 600 and Aguilar Tone Hammer 500 all get plenty loud enough and since this head has much the same power output as those heads, I would think it would be pretty close to them output wise.

500W RMS. It's kind of like saying my car goes 100 mph... will it do it on the highway, or only if dropped off a cliff?

Is that 500W RMS at 1KHz and 10%THD?

Is that 500W RMS from 20-20KHz and 0.01%THD?

actually they said it can peak 1000w too but you're right about the lack of THD qualifications at the lower. Peak is 100% THD isn't it?

I am of the mind they should be loathe to try to pull a fast one on me. I have 250 pristinely clean Trace watts which are far more than 50w louder than another brand of 200w micro.

that's voltage and power goes with square of voltage. A square wave of the level of the peak of the sine is 2x the rms power of the clean sine. I think we're talking about a seriously powerful amp.

In other words it's my understanding that if you claim a peak of double your continuous RMS output the continuous can only be a completely clean rating, mathematically. It's not possible to get any more than double the power difference clean to distorted with a cap on the instantaneous voltage.

dudes.... it's a loud amp, trust me. I play in a heavy band with a loud drummer and 2 loud guitards, and I don't need to go above half volume. At full power into a 4 ohms cab without hearing protection you can have a permanent hearing damage.

This amp is very tight and clean, but thanks to the drive, character and blend knobs you can make it sound more 'grindy' and 'tubey' if you want. As soon you start exploring those knobs you will wish to have 2 channels.
It takes pedals very well thanks to the blend knob and the combination of drive & character can go from pristine clean to fuzzy saturated tones.

That looks great! Can you give us the detail on the signal path? I tried to do something similar with a VT Bass pedal and an A-B box so the signal would either go into the front end of the VT500 or would go through the VT Bass pedal and into the effects return, bypassing the front end. But when I plugged anything into the effects return, I couldn't get any signal from the front of the amp.
