New: Tech 21 VT-500 Bass Amp

Reminds me of the Aguilar Tone Hammer 500, but still is very interesting!

I believe in the video he said it was 8 ohm (unless you have 2 cabs which would then be 4 ohms each) which means I'm out. I currently play an Ampeg SVT but have a GK MB200 which I hate the tone but it's just there to throw in my gig back as a backup. I would replace it with this if it was a 4 ohm amp.
Err...are you sure you fully understand ohmage?!! The speaker cabinets are rated in ohms. The head has a minimum load which, in this case, is 4 ohms. Just the same as your MB200. And just the same as 99% of other solid state/class D heads. So this is as much of a "4-ohm amp" as almost any other. ;-)

As @4StringsEnough said. ...the CABS are 8 ohms each. The AMP will run at 300w @ 8 ohms and 500w @ 4 ohms, most likely the amp won't do run safely at 2 ohms (as your SVT {CL is it?} won't run safely at 8 ohms but will be OK at 4 or 2 ohms [actually the SVT-CL will most likely run fine at 8 ohms] & your mb200 will run at about 100w @ 8 ohms and the full 200w into 4 ohms).
It's pretty usual for s.s. amps to run exactly the same. Usually it's only ALL TUBE amps that put their full rated power into whichever impedance load (ohms) they're safe to run at. e.g. the SVT-CL will put its 300w into either 4 or 2 ohms. The Fender Super Bassman - 300w into 8,4 & 2 ohms, the Orange AD200B - 200w into 4 or 8 ohms.

Correct. The amp needs a 4 Ohm load minimum. The cabs we make for this are 8 ohms. There was no point in trying to find a single 4 Ohm 12" speaker that would safely handle 500 watts RMS. The cabs are light, I just picked one up. Rear ported with a switch for the HF driver.
