The rack kit is a special order. I doubt the Mark Bass kit would work as those are for a different amp. Your best bet would be to contact our distributor vs a dealer online.

Finally got around to owning one of these amps. Bought it used from the classifieds here with the original box and manual.
Similar enough preamp to the di version, sounds great so far at practice volume, haven't jammed with the band or recorded with it yet. The fan doesn't seem as loud as some described.
I'm using a pararmetric EQ with a little cut around 60hz in front of the amp, cleaned up the lows nicely. I'll probably buy a hpf pedal like that Josh fellow makes in the future.

I'm finding the Bite switch useful on this amp. I don't know what changed for me, as I never liked it on the DI version. I do boost the lows slightly to compensate & maybe dial the blend back a smidge.
As with all things I wish it had an attenuator to adjust it.
I can't wait to take it out of the basement. On recording hiatus & not in a gigging/band at the moment.

I've had the head for a while and just started using the Bite switch myself. I've also started using presets other than "Fliptop". I don't think my soon to be be ex-band mates know what to make of it when I show up with it in "Wetton" mode.
I love tech 21 products specially my VT Bass pedal. My new head should be here next week.

So far I love every setting this thing has. I can’t decide which one is my favorite....from Tool to Rush to SVT.
Try Your own settings, most of the settings they recommend have the blend full on and more mid scoop than I care for. I generally have the blend 1/2 way or less. There is a lot of variety of great tones, maybe too much of a good thing for a knob tweaker like myself. Enjoy it.
I found a setting that works pretty well at getting a Queens Of The Stone Age bass tone, bite and pad are off. Sounds good from my Bag End cabs which are mid focused.
The drive setting is very dependent on the pickups used. I tried my above setting with another p bass with Dimarzio will powers & it was very farty sounding. I swapped out the pickups twice more today with cheap pickups pulled from sx or squire affinity bass's and it was varying degress of farty overdrive. The pickups that are in the p bass that sound good are Seymour Duncan spb4's.

Lol. Too funny. I have the SPB4s in my P bass as well and think it's my best sounding bass thru the VT 500.
Has any testing been done on the VT500 power amp modules at 2.7 ohms? I got one used a few weeks ago and decided to plug it into all (3) of my 8 ohm Ag GS112 cabs this weekend while practicing at home to see if it would go into protect mode. I haven’t run it past half volume on the master for any extended amount of time, and I run a pretty low gain clean setting, but it hasn’t hiccuped yet. Play time was up to an hour, typically on 1/3 volume. The exhaust fan air doesn’t even feel hot. I see other folks seem to have had a few issues even at 4 ohms during gigs, so I’m very unlikely to play it this way even at rehearsal, but I’m curious if it was tested at lower resistances by Tech 21 prior to production, or if anyone else has been brave enough to try to gig it at 2.7 ohms.

This shouldn't be too much of a surprise, as overdrive is based on level. If you're trying to level the playing field without changing your settings on your amp, and easy solution is to just turn down the volume on your bass to compensate.
Or do I have that in the wrong direction, and you're actually looking for more saturation?
