New Tech 21 VT Bass 300 Head!

I'm waiting for the Paradriver head.
Check out the Landmark head, I think it has 2 channels, one of which is like the Paradriver.
Yes the Landmark is 2 channel. Ch1 is the RBI (without a mid control) and Ch2 is the RPM (without a blend control).
Well thats good but not great.... without those two little knobs being there its not the same ??
To many `withouts` I instead got myself a good poweramp & both those puppies linked in Parallel......it rocks !
And what kind of volume is required for said gigs?
[My] point is...That if the "gig" is small enough so that "only" the kick and the vocals...or the harmonica or..Kazoo....or ...(not every instrument) is being Miced, then 300 watts should be fine.
If you need 5 ,6,900..1000 watts just to be heard..you should all be going through the PA.

Hmmm....I can see the lack of the mid control on ch1 being a bad thing (ch1 has a blend though). Is having 2 blend controls effective? Do you use them independently or do they sort of cancel each other out?
I've always wanted to go the route you did...but I picked up my Landmark for $300 used Cdn. The RBI/RPM and a Crown Drivecore would put me over $1000 new, and used they are hard to come by here. Still, would love to have that set up!!
Based on this i'm surprised those heads are not more popular. I've never even seen one as part of someones rig. And i have yet to try a bad tech21 product so i'm sure they are a quality unit.
The sound you will get from this VT head should be great !!
With the RBI & RPM linked i can do a heap of things with the mid & blends knobs, basically its endless the amount of configurations you can get via these 2 Preamps. Having only one mid & no blend on the other channel like the Landmarks is no good imo !
They should be identical to the Preamps with the same controls but they dont.
Like somebody asked what can you do with both the preamps (RBI/RPM) that you cant do with only one........

I saw this on All Bass No Treble and I cringed when I read the words "Analog Watt".
Cut the crap, a watt is a watt, but when you put the word "Analog" in there all of a sudden it's vintage and tubey. I see what you did there Tech 21 and I'm not buying it.

They were pretty $$ when they came out, so maybe that and the missing mid from ch1 and the blend from ch2 made people prefer the rbi/rpm route? Maybe people who had them never went for the footswitch that lets you combine the channels? Not sure really...I really like mine, to me it's a keeper.
The Landmark 300 is designed with two differently voiced channels. You can use both channels together. The blend control will only work with channel 1. In the case of mixing both channels if you want to favor the more direct sound of channel 1 while engaging channel 2 you would reduce the level of channel 2 when mixing. If you wanted to utilize the blend control with channel 2 you would set channel 1's blend control to minimum which disengages the SansAmp circuitry of Channel 1 (Bass, treble & level controls remain active) and use both channels together.
While channel 1 does not have a midrange control it does have active bass and treble controls (+ or - 12db) which allows for a mid-cut or mid-boost.
In comparison the VT Bass head is rooted in the sound of the SVT. While it may seem counter intuitive to have 2 identical channels keep in mind the "character" knob which allows you to radically mod each channel continuosly from vintage to modern and beyond.

Now can it be done in a Rackmount like Ampeg or BBE or Fender TBP-1 ?

Coming out with new versions of the RBI & RPM now with real Preamp Tube sections.Dont get me wrong because i love the sound that comes from all the Tech21 stuff & mostly the RBI/RPM but wouldnt it be good to have an RPM or RBI with 2 little glowing hotties in there ? Then you can really compare the emulated to the real & the Preamps would be from the same company.
This would be big for them !!
I use a Landmark 600 and it kicks total ass. A great power section with a proper large power supply and transformer. I would hate to see Tech 21 trash this new head with Class D power.
After using the Landmark 600 through various cabs I'd say it's probably 2x the power I'd ever need. It'll crush a real SVT at less than half the weight. 300 Tech 21 watts would be plenty. I'd be riding the top end of the power section and it would probably sound even more like an SVT... at 25 lbs? With a real solid output transformer and power supply? I'll take it thank you. Excellent job Tech 21
Would look better without the "cute" blue checker. I'd sandblast that face plate right away... All brushed aluminum with black accents and a quality vintage jewel light would seal the deal for me.
