New to bass, E string question!

Hi all
I've just started playing, totally new to it. I'm teching myself from the Internet at mo but once we're out of lockdown I'm going to look at getting some proper 1-2-1 lessons.
I've noticed on my bass that there feels like alot of play/movement in the E string. Is this normal? It seems to rattle alot and I get a lot of fuzz, buzz and generally not nice sound coming from it.
I have tuned it. And am well aware it may be because I'm not very good technique wise yet.
Should I just persevere???

Sounds like something is not correct, especially if it's only the E string that sounds bad.

I will post pics, there is some rattle on the other strings but not as bad and I'm sure that's just because I'm new to it and got alot to learn.
In my local town there a music shop and I know they will look at it fir me (prob for a fee) but it's shut at mo! I'll go take the photos!

OK, so the good news is that the strings are installed correctly. This rules out some issues that would cause rattles.

It's possible the strings are too close to the neck, creating the buzzing you hear. This is corrected by adjusting the neck truss rod, and the bridge saddles. If you have a place that can look at it for you, that's probably the best bet.

To fret clean notes, your fretting hand should hold down the string directly behind the fret wire....not in the middle. If this is why you get buzzing, it's a technique issue you can correct by playing closer to the fret.

Did your bass done setup ?
If you dint know basic bass setup, try raise the E string saddle a bit if no fret buzz on others string.

What Yahboy says with a quick explanation. 1. Loosen the E string at the tuner, 2. the bridge seems to have screw slots on either side of the string - you want to adjust this so the string sits higher than it did before by making the supporting saddles higher. You don't want to bring the saddle closer to the entry point of the string into the bridge (this would be adjusting intonation). Hopefully, a small adjustment will stop the buzzing otherwise it may be neck adjustment time.

E strings tend to buzz more than other strings because they're almost always the lowest tension string in the set.

If the buzz is above the 12th fret you need to raise the saddle height. If the buzz is below the 12th fret you need to loosen the truss rod to increase relief in the neck.
