I'm not and never have been in 40y of playing unless it's a SC pickup.while bass players are constantly battling unwanted noise.
Good question. Or maybe the volume knob on the OP's Rumble 25 was faulty and it really didn't go down as low as it should have.Hey, I speak "guitarist" and am wondering if by quiet you really mean "without noise/hiss/static/etc."?

+1The only thing quieter than a Rumble 25 would be a headphone amp. I don't understand how you could be too loud with that combo, as it does have a volume knob.
Which audio interface do you have? Most will allow you to plug in directly and use the monitoring function as is. If for some reason it doesn't support instrument level, you can insert a DI between your bass and interface.
A big thank you to everyone.
The reason it gets too loud is because my baby son sleeps in the bassment, and when you add the Hi-Fi to play with a track, the volume goes up and up.
I don't really like Amplitube 5, it gets weird sometimes with the audio.
I will for sure try direct in my interface first.
If I find that it lacks a bit, I'll look into the pedals you guys suggested.
My first instinct would be the MXR Bass Pre.
I'd recommend Phil Jones amps. It produces good quality sound even at small volume.
Every amp has a “quiet’ knob. Find the one marked “volume” and turn it counter-clockwise until you get the desired effect
The Rumble 25 has an earphone out. Seems like that would be the ticket.
I love your suggestion of using a DI im front of the Focusrite to shape the tone.
Do you have recomendations for the DI?
Thank you.
I play through headphones when practicing at home. My rumble 300 combo has RCA aux input and 1/4" out jacks. I'd look for a similar set up to allow baby to sleep.A big thank you to everyone.
