New to class D

After recently finding a drummer for our group, I realized that my BA112 (I love that little bugger) was no longer going to cut it a rehearsal. I have my V4B and 810 stack for gigs but that's not fun to haul around for rehearsal. So I bought a PF350 and an SVT 210 AV. Very nice lightweight rig.

My question is in the PF350 settings. I believe I read here (but couldn't find it using search) that it's best to run the volume full up and use the gain for sound levels. Is this true? Any recommendations would be appreciated.

If you want grit turn up the gain to give that, use the master for loudness. If you want clean, running the master wide open and using the gain for loudness will get you the cleanest sound the amp is capable of.

This applies equally to any Class of output stage.

I don't have that amp but I'm a crank-the-input gain-till it's-almost-clipping kinda guy. This tends fatten the sound up a bit but some amps respond to it better than others... Some amps get noisy if you do it the other way around but as Paul said it theoretically gives the cleanest possible sound.

I appreciate the feedback. It's something I'll need to play with for sure. I just wanted to be sure I wasn't going to damage the amp if I maxed-out the master. Thanks!
