Double Bass new to EUBS

wife has decided she doesn't like bass uke but does like sound of bass guitar. can't play guitar due to position and arthritis.
therefore EUB's
have played URB for 10 yrs then 40 yr gap and now have played URB for 5+ yrs.Play backing up 100 uke players at beach in Santa Cruz (paradise!) + several smaller related groups.
recommendations re EUBs?

Can you simply describe what you're looking for in a EUB ?
Solid-body ?
Semi-acoustic like the Eminence ?
Short scale or regular like an URB ?
Open to something that needs a tripod (like the Ergo), or a single endpin?
