so GK 1001 II + a shroeder cab is, IYO, the best opt for me right now?

I would say yes, or even something a little lower powered than the 1001, depending on what cab you can find.
Check out Schroeders website (just search on Google as can't remember it exactly) for model numbers.
Will be a much better option for what you need vs what Mudpeg puts out, especially when keeping prices in mind.

Tube'd cab? No such thing. Cabinets don't ever have tubes.

+1 to the GK recommendation, BTW. A 1001RB-II coupled with a Neo 212 would work beautifully, as would using another quality 2x12 or 4x10 cabinet. Not only is that combo warm, it's also capable of pulling off both warm growly rock tones and fat clean jazz tones with only minor EQ and poweramp output knob tweaks.

I currently use a 2001RB with a Neo 212, and it's LOUD, to say the least. It leaves my brother's 100W beginner Marshall combo (an MG100DFX) in the dust with the volume knob barely cranked.

Tube-loaded guitar amps don't stand a chance

Schroeder cabs are very efficient and they work well for some and not for others. They have never been called vintage sounding. The 1210 and 1212 would probably be what you are looking for. There are many other good cabs out there too Aguilar,Accugroove,Bergantino,GK,Genz-Benz,SWR,Hartke. The schroeders are very good cabs but just like everything else not everyones cup o tea. All gear purchases are a matter of personal taste and yours Is the tone you hear in your head when you think of the prefect tone. it is out there and this Schroeded and GK may be it but if not Just listen to different combinations and see what you like. That is what really counts not what everyone else likes.

As was said, that really depends on taste. No matter what snake-oil sellers or the graph/charters say, 10's don't match 12's and 15's for booty in real-life situations.
I personally like the Schroeder 1210 for this reason. I'm not a fan of 10's by any means, but their's is good.
It just depends on what you want. The best thing over other cabs Schroeder has going for them is the fact they sit well in the mix. I remember when I first got one, a 1210R and used a temporary SVT-III Pro, and people came up and said "Man, your bass sounded great!" which in bass player terms means "I could hear you".
Plus, the "R" and "L" series each have their own sonic characteristics so can't be even there.
From the people on here who more have "my" taste in sound/tone, the 21012L is their pick, and if I needed a Schro again, which I'm sure I will, I'll be getting a 210212 or 21012L and I have all the juice needed with my PLX3402.
Just remember, as a previous owner/user, if being heard live, and sounding great while doing it is #1, a Schro is IMHO opinion for you.

I'm a big fan of Bag End cabs with GK heads. I'm running an 800RB into 2 S15-D 1x15" cabs right now and have a 1001RB-II coming in tomorrow. The Bag Ends are small and sound great. Plenty of sound, I've never been underpowered in the 5 years I've been gigging these.
