I've been looking for a 5'er Dingwall for a couple of months, and finally pulled the trigger on a used bass on Reverb that was described pretty accurately (Very good condition) the seller attached a half dozen pictures and stated that there with just a few dings in the back of the neck otherwise it would be in excellent condition. Upon arrival the box was intact, but the clear tape was coming loose on both ends. However, the bass, was in a gig bag, surrounded by packing paper and the box wasn't crushed.

I signed for the package with UPS and put the box inside and went back to my work. Later this evening I unpackaged it, and discovered that there was a pea sized ding in the upper belly cut edge, and some fabric from the gig bag was embedded into this ding. It's deep, very noticeable and highly disappointing.

Kind of at a loss as to what to do, I really like the bass. It's a color that doesn't come up much, Lamborghini Orange Matte Pearl. Other than that surprise it's in great shape.

Reverb has the protection thing, but I'm not sure how this would play out. I used Affirm to purchase the instrument.

What do my bass brethren think?

If the box wasn't demolished, then the seller did that before packing. Or, maybe he had UPS pack it and they dinged it.

Did you get photos of the package? You should get in the habit of taking pics of the box as soon as it arrives, because once you open it, it's virtually impossible to make a claim with the shipping company for damage received in transit.

It sucks, but luckily it's not on the front. You can put a little drop of CA glue on it to keep it from flaking off. I'm sad that Dingwall doesn't make more orange basses!

It's not something that was pictured on the listing on reverb.com. He didn't take a photo of that area either. He has offered to refund $100 to help. He paid the extra fee for reverb protection. Told him i would mull it over the weekend and decide if I want to return it or not.
