I don't know if I'd call it a 'good' mic, but what I bought because I'm a cheap bastard that has worked out pretty well is a Samson R11. In the track in my sig all the vocals and both guitar lines were recorded with the R11. The bass was recorded 50/50 with the R11 and a MXR M80 bass DI.
It works similar to a poor mans SM58. Seems a little shallow on the highs for vocals and a shade shallow on the lows for bass, but it is working for me while I experiment with recording techniques. I'll eventually pick up some condensers for recording, but I don't think I'll upgrade for live stuff until these crap out (not that I'm doing any live stuff now, anyway).
