New to TB and URB

Hi Everyone,
I'm new to DB and looking forward to learning a lot from this forum. I currently play mandolin (mostly bluegrass and old time) and played EB a little back in highschool in the early 80s.

I've been researching basses and instructional material. I'm leaning toward getting either a used Kay that's available at a shop here in St. Louis, or a Upton Hawkes plywood.

Anyone in the St. Louis area active on this board? I need to find an instructor as a first step. I'm interested in playing mostly bluegrass, but would be open to any kind of initial instruction to help with proper technique.
