New Tobias Basses?

Last Friday, I was at Fullers Vintage Guitar in Houston running a taste test on every Tobias they had on the wall, somewhere between 8 and 12 instruments - 4,5, and 6 string. Killer B's, Growlers. Initially, I set all controls flat (mid indent) w/ full volume through a Fender Combo also set flat.

Very nice instruments, very playable, but overpriced IMHO. I didn't bother with the price tags, since I didn't see anything I had to have. $1600 was the mean price, if I remember correctly.

What suprised me was the volume, tone and resonance variation between identical instruments. My subjective opinion.
