View attachment 4140214 I went back and forth on the knobs, I originally thought about vintage Rogans, but...

The Ibanez neck is one of those five-piece SR700 satin-finish ones. Love the feel. So smooth.

Another vote for different knobs? I can change out knobs all day, as long as they're set-screw knobs, because of the solid-shaft Bournes pots. And I just might, LOL!

It's a beautiful bass and I love the walnut. The knobs are perfect and don't waste your time and money trying something that won't blend in as well.

Very well done! IMHO, it would look even better with matching walnut knobs, but it looks amazing as is already.

I built myself something during the pandemic. Had some real nice figured walnut in the basement, bought an Ibanez neck off the 'Bay., and had a lot of time off my usual schedule to put this together. Also had to try the new Billy Sheehan View attachment 4140189 DiMarzio "Relentless" chrome P-bass pickups, although I "reversed" them. The inspiration from the two famous Santa Ana, CA bass manufacturers is obvious, lol!

I'm more of a repairman than a luthier, I don't really have all the tools to build from scratch and do a "pro" job. But I have my little bandsaw, a Dremel, a trim router, and rattlecans of clear automotive lacquer, so I can turn out stuff good enough to amuse myself, lol.

The Technical Data: Not much. A Dimarzio "relentless" P-bass pickup into two 500K Bournes pots, .047 capacitor to a PureTone jack. Strung with D'Addario half-rounds, stock Ibanez tuners and a Gotoh bridge.

EDIT: 250K pots. I was confusing them with another project I had going on at the same time.

I'll get some more pics this afternoon.

As I was finishing this one up, I was seeing these threads on a few manufacturers making basses (Jackson, in particular) that were "inspired" with classic Ric styling cues, and the results were less than appealing to me. As someone said, it's like when two A-list stars get together and have an ugly baby.

But this would be an EASY bass to produce, one pickup, simple and streamlined. Heck, Ric could revive the "Electro" sub-brand and sell it for under a grand, LOL!

i have the same neck on a 2012 sr600.
the way you contoured the body to look like a ibanez sr with the rick shape. wow!
i would have like to see it without all the "rick" plastics covering that beautiful wood though.

Jesus Tap-Dancing Christ that is sweet! Incredible figure on that walnut, and all the design alterations really hang together. Stealth Build unacceptable! Can you post a build thread on that, love to see your build process.

I have this inner desire to build a bass, but I keep talking myself out of it. The basses that I have are plenty good for everything I do. I figure I can buy a really good bass cheaper than I can build one from scratch with new parts. But then, I see this and....WOW...that looks like it would be so rewarding! VERY NICE!
