They got this part of it handled much better on the Rack Mount/table top units in the line. Those have a slot that the battery slides into to charge. I imagine that they thought the trade off for size was worth it on the pedal board unit.

Much better experience this time around. I think the brightness of the RBI I was using with my last unit brought out way too much hifi. I tried it again with the RBI even though I don't use it anymore and I still notice a slight noise but I don think it's as noticeable as last time. Again, I think it was just the harshness of the RBI bringing out stuff you wouldn't usually hear or could have very well been a faulty unit. Otherwise with my main setup, going through the JohnK Orange preamp into the radial JDI, sounds awesome. It's just a well built unit and with the brilliant battery design I don't think I could have gone back the Line 6 Route. Dropouts when the unit is moved, battery door, etc. I think I'll keep this one :)

I've never run into any type of dead battery situation. I play long night 2-3 weekends per month, so thats fri & sat nights 9-1, but Im at the club by 7 for setup. I get two full weekends + from a full charge! It uses the same charger as my phone, so I obviously just charge it as I drive to the gig.
My old G50 was a joke, a battery eater per night! The Shure blows it away in every aspect; tone, distance and reponse, reliability, and no dropouts...my G50 drove me nuts with dropouts.

My guitarist was so impressed he bought one too and can't stop praising it either.

that works, but it means pulling out the wireless pack and taking it home with you in your car. there are plenty of bands (i'm in a couple) where all the gear lives on a trailer, gets unpacked for a show, used, then packed back into the trailer until the next show.

if it were a band that didn't do setbreaks it would mean almost no time to recharge the battery, either at the show or between shows.

The more I use this unit the more I think the first one I tried was flawed. Everything has been great so far. Besides noise in the signal on my last one, when I'd hit the button for the tuner every now and then it would switch into tuning mode and then switch back almost instantly. I'd have to hit the switch a couple times for it to work right.

Very glad I saved the refund and decided to try another one. Sweetwater tests the gear before sending it out as well so that's a plus. Just nice being able to move around while playing without having to focus on keeping a cable out of the way.

I'm really enjoying it. A very convenient design. If you read some of my previous posts I had bad luck with my first Shure GLX unit and almost got a G50. Glad I decided to try another one. It's been perfect.
