New Year, New Larrivee bass

Hey guys, I just scored an 80's Canadian made Larrivee electric bass over the Christmas holidays.

I now have a 4 string bolt on LB-2 electric bass.

Great build quality and hardware. Alder body, EMG pups, Schaller tuners and bridge. I can't begin to tell you how awesome Larrivee basses are.

If you have played or own one, please share your thoughts.

Can't speak for the basses, but I have an OM-style acoustic that's unbelievable. Their electric guitars also arte quite nice, so I'm sure your bass will be a killer.

Their 80's electric basses were killer. They were very rare back in the day even in Canada so obviously they are rare now. They were really expensive new. Likely over a grand if I had to guess.

I had one briefly in the mid 80's and a buddy of mine gigged two. Very well built and tonally blew away my Fenders and Gibsons.

I have a Larivee fretless 6, beautiful, very well done, only thing is that the B is kind of loose due to the 34" scale - need to move to a heavier gauge string.

I have a mid 80's Paragon .. built like a tank... intonation has been flawless since I got it

I had a white 4 string LB-2 that I bought in a now-defunct store on Sunset Boulevard on "guitar row" in 1989. It was great.

I sold it to a friend, who in turn sold it. I'd love ot get my hands on one again just to play it and see if it sounds as good as I remember it: clear and clean.

So cool! First I've seen of a Larrivee bass! I have two of their acoustics- a L-03R and a LV-03RE. I also have an OM-3 on permanent loan to my brother. And I've owned and sold a D-03E. I'm a huge Larrivee fan, and am glad to see they once made basses.

Had one. Not my cup of tea. Didn't help that it arrived six months late, the wrong color, and with frets. Was well done, though!

They were also making the Schon guitars as well. Think the electric operation got bought out by Godin, Jean is a hell of a guitar builder but a poor business manager and I'm sure this was way too much for him to handle.

I have one that is a 1984, serial #3076, was custom made in North Vancouver when I was 17...I was a buss boy, paid $1500 CAD for it back then. It is the only bass I have never been able to part with, the sound is so amazing, only thing was it is head heavy...enjoy it, mine has signs of good times...lol
