Hi everybody. Started playing guitar at 16, was in a band back in the day. Things fell apart as they do so only practiced off & on for years. Always had interest in bass, a roommate had an old BC Rich bass & I was the only one who ever played it. Finally about 5 years ago started up on guitar again & realized how bad I had become. So decided to switch to bass cause it would be 'easy' ...ha yea right huh?!?! Purchased a Jackson CB-IV on craigslist, Dave Ellefson series & I was hooked. Have added a mexican Fender Jazz which I added a gotoh high mass bridge & fender custom shop 60s series pickups. Also grabbed an american Fender P-bass. As much as I like the p-bass I find the jazz bass as my go to, the neck is just more sleek & easy to play. Lurked around here for yrs so thought I'd finally join. Really wanna brush up on theory & scales as I've always just kinda winged it & played by ear. Thanks for reading!!

Welcome. I have tin ears so I have had to rely on theory and what could happen and what would not happen. For scales and some theory I'd recommend some time with How to get started?
Lot of good information on how music works and scale patterns here, for example; post # 4 and 6 will get the theory started. Ask Google and he/she normally answers....
