Newbie Needing Help with svt410he

Hey all, i just bought an svt3 and a 410he and whenever i turn it loud it will cut out to really low volume... i am wondering what my problem is.

also, i am having trouble understanding the function of the level control on the back of the cabinet, any help?

With that head I would recommend selling the HE (you should be able to get $300 if there isn't anything wrong with it) and pony up an extra $50 - $100 and get a 410HLF. It is a ported, 4 ohm cab. It will get much louder and deeper than the HE. It is quite a bit bigger and heavier though.

This is silly. An SVT 3 Pro and a 410HE should work perfectly together. He doesn't need to go buying an HLF or add a second speaker. What do you get out of 8 ohms? 275w? That's pretty good. Besides, an HLF is a TOTALLY different animal than the HE.

There's something wrong with it. Might be complex, might be simple. Call the place you bought it and arrange to bring it in for a repair or replacement. Did you buy it new?

$50 to access an extra 125w doesn't seem like a bad idea. I haven't tried a HE with a 3-pro, but there was quite a difference between the HE and HLF when paired with my CL. On it's own the HE doesn't have much bottom end. He'll be using alot of that 275w boosting the bass. The HLF has a lot of bottom end, too much when paired with an all tube head IMO. From what I have read the HLF was designed to mate with the 3-pro and IMO & IME it's a good pairing.

The level control on the back of the cabinet is a high end control which covers the frequencies 5khz to 18khz. Basically all of the high end clack that your paper cone speakers can't reproduce.

The setup you have should work decently. Type in the SVT 3 PRO in the search function and you can learn all about the tricks to getting that thing to sound good and loud. #1 of all is make sure you do not have the Ultra Low Button pushed in -it really could be the reason why you are running out of power. Low end takes a lot of power to get audible through ANY RIG. You need some midrange in your tone to be heard in a band setting.

What are your tone settings?

Don't bother jumping for the 410hlf - a used one is $500 (a good one) and a new one is around $700. Your rig should work just fine if you read up on the 3 PRO's controls and take my advice.

Man, where were you when I was selling my HLF. :p
As long as the seller is near a major US city he should be able to sell his HE for $300 (I've sold 2 at this price) and pick up a HLF for $350 (bought and sold 1 for this price).

Sorry, but I'm one who prefers the HE to the HLF, too. The HLF is just way too heavy on the lows for my tastes, whereas an HE is pretty much just how I like it.
