Newbie Question on G+L JB Trubute

Yes I am one of those people who purchased a mint green tribute on the SDOTD. Appreciate the body build quality. My main bass is a MIJ Marcus Miller, which has an East preamp, Babicz Bridge and Duncans. I wanted a second, less expensive bass for rehearsal and tried a Epi Tbird classic. A fat guy can't play that bass standing up as it will literally flip over. So that was given to a friends kid. I had a G+L tribute 2500 and likely it, but dont play 5 anymore, so when I saw the price on the G+L JB Trib I bit.
The East J Kit will fit. I like a master volume and the EQ of the East. Wouldn't have another bass without it. My question are :
1) I have a set of SD's STK-J2's. Are these an improvement over the stock pickups?
2) 1 have the original pickups from the Marcus, are they any better than the stock G+L pickups.
3) The prudent course of action would be to leave the G+L pickups in and try them, but if anyone has done anything like this I'd like to have an opinion.
The Duncan's and East took the Marcus from a bass I wanted to trade-in to my main bass. Or... should I just save my pennies and get an American JB or used L series?

I've been playing mine with the stock pickups and am quite pleased. I basically bought this bass so I would have access to a "jazz" bass in my studio, but it will, in fact, go with me today to a gig, along with my Fender American Performer Precision.
Sorry, I can't help you with the questions you've asked, but I will suggest that you may be pleasantly surprised with the stock configuration. YMMV of course.

I also have been playing mine with the stock pickups and think they are great . Very punchy and have some depth to the tone for Jazz pickups . I put an Audere pre in mine and have no desire to change pickups .

Thanks for the reply. The Audere looks good and I'm sure will offer a lot of options. I also like the pick guard. These take stock Fender Jazz Pick guards correct?

This pickguard is a Chandler for a US JB and isn't a perfect fit for the Tributes . There is a very small gap between the pickguard and the control plate and the heel of the neck on the US JB must be a little wider because there is a small gap on either side of the neck . Also two of the pickguard screws don't match up on the lower horn , you can see it in the picture if you look close . I have since drilled holes for the missing screws and added them . It looks so good that the small gaps and missing screws doesn't bother me , you have to look close to even tell . Don't know about US Fenders .
