If you’re talking about quiet gigs without a drummer, it does make amplifying a lot easier. You might try one of the darker sounding pickups, one of those fdeck impedance matching preamps, and the amp you already have.

Exactly this - with an fdeck and any of the better-known pickups you should be fine at these volumes.

I started a thread on this forum about my current rig and how happy I am with it. The pickup I'm using is the Vic's Model B. I like it for the sound, simplicity, and convenience. I've used it for softer and louder gigs. I don''t want anything that requires any modification of the bridge or can't be removed easily. Arco is a little more problematic but I can work around it and don't need it all that much for the amped gigs I do. With the preamps and other gear suggested here I believe the Vic's is as usable a pickup as any mentioned.
