Newish FPS I've been really digging, and it's F2P!

I played it for about an hour yesterday. Not digging it, honestly.

The maps are way too huge for their own good. Some of the classes are kinda fun, but not enough to keep me coming back for more. I may try to play it some more to see if I'll warm to it, but for the time being I'm going back to the beta for the new Counter Strike.

It definitely isn't the same as most FPS games, that's for sure. The map size can be an issue if there aren't a lot of people on s map, but if its populated enough you're not really that far from action at any one time. The distances also diminish quickly once you get adept at the jet packs and skiing.

I personally like the huge maps. The games high-mobility mechanics make sniping very difficult though.

Oh great, I thought I wouldn't want to spend a penny on this game, but the Steam Starter Pack has a permanent +50% experience boost, among other things.

Looks like Halo basically on steroids.

Similar in some ways, but also quite difference at the same time.

The Tribe series pre-dates the Halo series

Been a fan of the series for a long time, so when I heard about Tribes Ascend I got straight on it. Been playing on and off since beta, it's pretty faithful to the series in a lot of ways, I really enjoy playing.

Some of the other gamemodes could do with a little work, but CTF is classic Tribes, and they've managed to pull that off really well.


Bit of a learning curve, learning to ski properly and getting the hang of your weapons timing takes a bit of practice, but definitely a great game. Anybody looking for something different needs to give it a shot imo.

I've been playing ascend for ages. anyone who doesn't enjoy the game should be prosecuted.

tribes ascend is free to play? I might just get it then. I've heard it been referred to as both really fun and "go fast to win"
