I just never quite believed the Vikings, they may have had the lowest point differential of any 14 win team in history (100 points). The Lions who led the league were at 222, the Packers, Bucks, Eagles, Bronco's, Chargers, Ravens, and Bills all had higher margins. The Vikings won an amazing amount of one score games against poor teams. The Playoffs exposes that. They also had a mediocre strength of schedule. I also think this season revealed a couple of other things. A team with great skill players and a horrible offensive line isn't going anywhere (Bears), the Lions tried that formula for years. In important games and the playoff's you have to be able to protect your QB. Also Jordon Love is good, and while he has the potential to be great, I'm not ready to call him Patrick Mahomes yet, and their receivers led the league in drops, not a great combo. I still believe that teams that commit to having a good running game and stick with it, and can stop the run, go far in the playoffs. That's why the Lions, Eagles, Bills, Ravens, and Chiefs, are the only ones I believe have a legit shot. And Lamar Jackson still has to prove he can sit in a pocket and hit his second read.

I agree with everything here except the last sentence. The numbers I've seen show Jackson does very well from the pocket.

The NFC games should be very good. But I think Bills/Ravens is the matchup of the weekend.

Clever how he's creating a false market for his services and thus making it appear he is some coveted hot coach that everyone wants, but instead since he wants to stay in Pittsburgh he will decline any interest from other teams.

The Lions have needed their A+ game just to be competitive. Despite that, they’ve been the best team in the conference, if not the entire league, pretty much all year. If they don’t make it to the Super Bowl, I don’t think it will be because they didn’t bring their A+ game.

If anything, I’d say anyone who wants to beat Detroit better bring their A+ game. And pack a lunch, because those are some persistent kneecap biters.

My understanding is that they've been decimated by injuries and have still been winning. That's a tough team. If they don't make it, I'm all in for Kansas City for the threepeat and taking the shine off Brady and New England. If it's neither of them, then I'm for Buffalo to get their first.

The Lions have been snakebit by injuries this season. I'm completely impressed by how they have overcome having to replace nearly all of their starters on defense and still keep winning. That kind of persistence should win them a Super Bowl. I hope so, anyway. Detroit has never been there, and they have earned it this season.

Analytics ahead, but interesting (to me, at least). This measures QB production in likely passing situations (70% or greater) in 2024. Ravens/Bills pits #1 in the league against #2, while Lions/Commanders has #3 and #4.
